eLearning Specialist Onboarding Trainings

OVERVIEW
Eastern Kentucky University Training Resource Center (EKU TRC) proudly partners with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to develop customized training and professional development programs specific to Kentucky's workforce serving children, families, and vulnerable adults across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. EKU TRC's eLearning team collaborates with curriculum developers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to provide web-based trainings and Microlearning opportunities that center on adult learning with practical experiences.

As the Communications Content Manager, I developed two employee training courses focusing on successful content that prevents cognitive overload so that eLearning specialists can inherit the information to improve their abilities in creating successful online instruction. These onboarding training courses are for eLearning Specialists to assist in improving all new and existing training modules TRC develops.

The Applying Color course focuses on the significant role colors play in helping learners enhance knowledge acquisition by affecting their perception and evoking different emotions. However, it is also important to remember that excessive use of color leads to cognitive overload, which becomes counter-productive. Therefore, it is imperative to find the right balance.

Upon completion, eLearning Specialists will better understand the importance of color in visual content and how appropriate application enhances retention. In addition, they will be better able to select a suitable color scheme for efficiently communicating the instruction message.
